Experience Art

Each day from July 7-17th there will be a different unique experience for visitors to enjoy. Those wishing to participate can pay a small fee and enjoy a hands-on, creative experience that will take you through the steps needed to create a piece of art. Allow for 30 to 45 minutes for each experience.  

No need to sign-up experiences are short and are continuous each day.

Clay Cross with Stan $20

Wednesday July 7th 12-5

Use hand-building techniques to turn a clay slab into a cross.  Templates will be provided to shape your cross or you can be creative and design your own.  Wooden stamps and knitting needles will be used to add patterns and designs to crosses.  Three glaze options will be available for completing this experience.


Mini Cat or Dog Collage with Robin $10

Thursday July 8th 12-5

Canvas Collage with Robin Anne Cooper make a mini masterpiece of your cat or dog. Experience the fun of cutting, gluing and playing with painted canvas and take a fur baby of your own making home with you.


Clay Trivet with Stan $20

Friday July 9th 12-5

Use hand-building techniques to turn a clay slab into a trivet.  Wooden stamps will be used to add patterns and designs onto the clay.  A fettling knife or needle tool will be used to cut one large simple geometric shape from the slab. Three glaze options will be available for completing this experience.  Once pieces have been fired cork will be adhered to back completing the trivet.


Mug Rug (Coaster) with Becky Walker $15

Saturday July 10th  :  10:00 am and 2:00pm

Learn and use simple felting techniques to complete a mug rug/coaster.  Locally grown wool will be used as a base and bright colors will be needled in adding a simple design.  Next, wet felting procedures will be used to complete the transformation from wool to felt.

***This experience will take about 2 hours to complete.  There will be only two start times for this experience.


Clay Dish with a Slip Transfer with Cindy Hart $15

Sunday July 11th 12-5

Use hand-building techniques to turn a clay slab into a tray.  A form will be used to shape clay into a dish.  Tissue paper and colored slips will be used to create and apply a transfer to the dish. Feet will be added. A clear glaze will be added to complete this experience. 


Butter Dish with Stan $8

Monday July 12th 12-5

Use hand-building techniques to turn a clay slab into a small tray.  A wooden block will be used to press clay into foam to shape your very own tray.  Wooden stamps will be used to apply texture, personalizing your project. Three glaze options will be available for completing this experience.  

 


Acrylic Ornament with Robin $5

Tuesday July 13th 12-5

You get to assemble and design your own acrylic ornament.


Hand Ornaments with Stan $15

Wednesday July 14th 12-5

Use hand-building techniques to turn a clay slab into an ornament.  Brush up on your sign language or hand signals before taking part in this experience.  Use your hand, your child’s, or your grandchild’s hand as a starting point for this project. After handshapes are cut from clay fingers will be bent to form a peace symbol, I love you, or your choice of signal.  Three glaze options will be available for completing this experience.


Collage Person with Robin $1o

Thursday July 15th 12-5

Bug In A Box with Stan $5

Friday July 13th 12-5

Use crayons to draw a simple pattern with warm and cool colors.  Next, watercolor paint will be used to create a resist over patterns.  Trace and cut circles and semicircles to form an insect body.  Markers will aid in drawing detailed legs to bring your bug to life.  Inspiration for this project comes from the artwork of Christopher Marley.  It is a favorite of Stan’s second-grade students at school.


Ornaments with Stan $5

Saturday July 14th 12-5

This is a glazing project! Using a hand built bisque ornament, design and glaze the however you want. 


*If you choose to create with clay, projects will be fired and glazed in a color of your choice. A second visit to the studio will be required for picking up completed pottery.  

**Unless otherwise noted all experiences are limited to one per day per customer and are appropriate to ages 5-105 years young.
